Survey ‘Comparing institutional MOOC strategies’ repeated

This year's survey 'Comparing institutional MOOC strategies' is now open. The survey is available in three languages and will close at 24 November 2015. First results will be presented at the Conference "WOW! Europe embraces MOOCs".

The survey focusses on strategies of Higher Education Institutions regarding MOOCs. Next to the comparison between Europe and the U.S. we will produce country reports if responses from individual countries are high enough. For this reason the survey is available in English, French and Turkish. This is made possible thanks to partners in different countries. The survey is, for example, used in francophone Canada under coordination of REFAD.

The survey is largely a repetition of last year. In 2014 the HOME project, coordinated by EADTU, started a research to address the possible differences between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the U.S. and Europe in their possible goals and the strategic choices behind the development of a MOOC. Based on a the 2014 survey the report Institutional MOOC strategies in Europe was published in February 2015. The report clearly demonstrates that MOOC involvement in Europe is still increasing. Over 40% of HEIs in Europe has a MOOC or is planning to develop one. This interesting finding is consistent with the results of two other independent studies (by EUA, see Gaebel et al. 2014 and by JRC-IPTS in 2015). The 2014 survey also shows that arguments for European HEIs to get involved differ from those in the U.S. A scientific paper about these 2014 results will be published soon in a special issue of IRRODL edited by Sebastian Vogt and Markus Deimann. You are kindly requested to contribute to this year’s survey and in addition ask other HEIs to complete the survey as well.
